Sarwa / Cypress Tree — Hebron & Gaza Small Oval Platter in Speckled Stoneware

The cypress tree شجرة السرو is one of the most cherished motifs in Palestinian embroidery تطريز, symbolising life, eternity, and resilience. This particular design appears on traditional embroidered dresses (thobes) from both Gaza غزة and Hebron الخليل. Stitched in repeating rows, the motif takes on different shapes and colours across regions, reflecting local traditions while connecting them through a shared cultural heritage and landscape.
