Hebron Rose (زهرة الخليل)

The ‘rosette’ is one of the oldest motifs found in the textile arts. There are different versions of this flower motif in Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez).

This stemmed flower motif is typical of the Hebron (الخليل) area, one of the oldest continuously inhabited areas of Palestine - in fact in the world. Located about twenty miles south of Jerusalem, Hebron (الخليل) is known for its hilly landscape renowned for vineyards and grapes. It is one of the areas richest in cultural traditions and heritage.
